Kappa Alpha Order-Nu Chapter

Auburn University Chapter – Building brotherhood, character, and leadership through tradition, service, and academic excellence since our founding.

History

Kappa Alpha Order was founded in 1865 at Washington College (now Washington and Lee University) in Lexington, Virginia, by James Ward Wood, William Archibald Walsh, and William Nelson Scott. Their vision was to create an order of men modeled after the highest ideals of gentlemanly character and Christian values.

The Nu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order was established at Auburn University in 1883, making it one of the oldest fraternities on campus. Since then, Nu Chapter has been an influential part of Auburn’s Greek life for over 140 years. Our alumni have gone on to become leaders in business, public service, and the Auburn community.

Today, Nu Chapter continues to uphold KA’s traditions of honor, integrity, leadership, scholarship, and service, preparing its members to be Auburn men of character who leave a lasting impact on their university and beyond.

A Letter From Our President

Carrying forward the values of Kappa Alpha Order at Auburn University.

As we begin the 142nd year of Nu Chapter, our primary goals are to maintain our influence on campus, strengthen brother involvement within the fraternity, and continue honoring the core values of Kappa Alpha Order.

Our chapter is well represented across Auburn’s campus, with brothers holding leadership roles in Student Government, the Interfraternity Council, the Financial Management Association, and numerous academic honor societies. As a result, we are in strong standing with the university and are well respected by administrators and the student body.

As our chapter continues to grow—now exceeding 215 members—it is increasingly important that we make a deliberate effort to foster engagement and connection among all brothers. Even within a large chapter, every member should feel involved, valued, and supported.

In an era when fraternity reputations can be easily challenged, I believe KA distinguishes itself by remaining committed to its six
values: reverence, gentility, knowledge, leadership, brotherhood, and excellence. By consistently holding ourselves to these ideals
and to a higher standard of conduct, Nu Chapter will continue to be a healthy and positive environment where college men can
grow and develop.

I look forward to seeing our chapter continue to grow and strengthen throughout the year, and I am always happy to connect with parents or alumni who wish to learn more about our brotherhood.

Fraternally,
Julius Fox ’23
